Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed Fisayo Oladipupo, a former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.
Four other people, including a mother and her child, were also reportedly killed in the violence, which erupted in the community on Sunday and continued into Monday.
Sources revealed that the clash stemmed from a decade-long feud among rival cult groups, which has claimed several lives over the years.

“We heard in the morning that Oladipupo was killed around 2:00 am.
As the community was still in shock over his killing, reports came in that other people had been attacked and killed in other parts of Owo,” a source disclosed.
A woman and her child reportedly died after being struck by stray bullets while attempting to escape the violence in the Mobile area of the community.
The killings have heightened tension in Owo, with residents demanding increased security to curb the growing insecurity in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and uncover the motive behind the attack.
“We can’t confirm if an APC chieftain is affected, but four people have been confirmed dead. Normalcy has returned through the intervention of the police, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators,” Odunlami-Omisanya said.
The incident has left the community in mourning, with calls for urgent action to prevent further violence.
