Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been announced as the new Emir of Kano.
According to local news medium, Vanguard, it was confirmed by Secretary to the Kano State Government, Rabiu Sulaiman.
This has rubbished earlier reports quoting a twitter account purportedly owned by the former CBN governor, announcing the late Emir’s son, Sanusi Ado Bayero as the government’s choice.
Names of the shortlisted candidates for the royal stool were said to have been submitted to the Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso by the kingmakers of the Kano emirate, a list we reported, quoting sources, contained the name of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has congratulated the new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
In a congratulatory message, Ahmed said the emergence of Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano was a positive development for the traditional institution in Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that the new Emir will bring his wealth of experience to bear in sustaining the eminence of Kano in Commerce and other sectors in Nigeria and West Africa.
He prayed Allah to give the new Emir long life and good health in his new position.
