A former Chairman of Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Oyo State, Adekunle Oladeji, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oladeji, who served as chairman of the LCDA during the administration of former Oyo State Governor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, confirmed his defection to newsmen on Saturday.
The Aare Latosa LCDA is one of the local council development areas under Ibadan North Local Government Area.
Oladeji’s defection comes despite his father, Alhaji B.A.O. Oladeji, remaining a prominent stakeholder in the APC in Oyo State.
His father previously served as the Oyo South Senatorial District Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), one of the political parties that merged with others to form the APC between 2014 and 2015.
InfoStride News gathered that while the elder Oladeji has retained his membership of the APC, his son has aligned with the APM and has publicly declared support for the party’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.
He is also reported to have endorsed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the APM’s presidential candidate.
Confirming the development, Oladeji said he had formally left the APC for the APM ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Yes. It is confirmed,” he said in a brief message to newsmen.
