In a scathing response to the recent bombing incident in the Tudun Biri area of Kaduna state, ex-Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani expressed profound dismay on Tuesday, labeling the event as a horrendous and costly mistake.
Sani emphasized that the Nigerian Army’s error should not be treated lightly, underscoring the importance of acknowledging the sanctity of human lives.
The incident, which occurred during a Maulud celebration on Sunday, involved a military drone targeting villagers.
Taking to X to voice his concerns, the seasoned lawmaker urged authorities not to abandon the widows and families left grieving by the unfortunate event.
Sani highlighted the need for military operations to prioritize the highest consideration for human life, emphasizing the paradox of seeking to protect a populace while inadvertently causing harm.
In his statement, Sani articulated, “Dropping bombs in a crowd of people in the center of a village is a horrible and costly ‘mistake’ that must not be taken lightly.
The sanctity of human lives must be of the highest consideration in any military operation. It makes no sense to massacre the people you want to protect.”
He further insisted that the orphans, widows, and widowers affected by the Army’s bombing should not endure further suffering and advocated for measures to prevent the recurrence of such a tragic incident.
