Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, has issued a stern warning to motorists regarding the use of mobile phones while driving.
In a statement delivered by the Corps’ Acting Public Education Officer, Margret Onabe, Irelewuyi emphasized that using phones while behind the wheel is not only hazardous but also a violation of traffic laws.
He noted that such behavior contributes to road accidents.
Irelewuyi urged motorists to refrain from using their phones while driving, advising them to park safely before making or answering calls.
He also cautioned against any device that could potentially distract drivers while on the road.
The Commander credited the Command’s efforts for a noticeable reduction in motor accidents during the last Yuletide season compared to previous years.
He attributed this improvement to the Command’s commitment to enforcing traffic regulations.
Additionally, Irelewuyi highlighted the Command’s ongoing public enlightenment initiatives, including radio programs and regular visits to parks, aimed at promoting compliance with traffic rules and regulations among operators.
