In a proactive move to guarantee a smooth flow of traffic during the festive season, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the deployment of its entire workforce, including Special Marshals, to the highways across the country.
Deputy Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, in a statement released on Monday in Abuja, outlined the corps’ commitment to combating traffic gridlock and ensuring zero Road Traffic Crashes during the yuletide period.
Kazeem stated that the personnel have been equipped with necessary logistics and operational materials, including radar guns to monitor speed violations.

To enhance efficiency, 16 traffic control camps have been established along various routes, with 53 critical routes receiving special attention.
Quoting the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, Kazeem conveyed directives for Commanding Officers to maintain 24-hour surveillance in high-volume traffic and gridlock-prone areas.
Furthermore, the mobilization of 26 Help Areas, utilization of 59 Emergency Ambulance Points, activation of roadside clinics, and continuous 24-hour traffic updates on the National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM were emphasized.
The special operation is set to conclude on January 15, 2024. Kazeem outlined additional tasks for the personnel, including identifying alternative routes to aid motorists during gridlocks and promptly notifying traffic distressed areas for intervention.
Night Rescue teams are strategically positioned at all operational commands to ensure a swift response to any unforeseen challenges.
The operation encompasses critical corridors such as Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Birnin Kebbi, Katsina-Kano-Wudil-Dutse-Azare-Potiskum, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, and various other key routes nationwide.
The FRSC remains steadfast in its commitment to facilitating safe and efficient travel experiences for commuters during this festive period.
