The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has established over 200 mobile courts nationwide to prosecute traffic offenders during the Eid-el-Kabir special patrol operations.
FRSC Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed announced this during a press briefing on Friday in Abuja, detailing the Corps’ preparations ahead of the Sallah celebration.
Mohammed highlighted recent challenges to road safety, noting the increase in unsafe practices such as using trailers and trucks to transport people, night travel, driver fatigue, speed violations, driving under the influence, and vehicle overloading.

“The Corps has intensified efforts to address these issues head-on,” Mohammed stated.
He emphasized that the FRSC has introduced key safety initiatives to combat these unsafe behaviors and adapt to evolving road safety needs.
Among these initiatives is an effective collaboration with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and state judiciaries to ensure timely prosecution of traffic violators.
“This collaboration aims to address infractions such as overloading, dangerous driving, the use of mobile phones while driving, and speeding, through mobile court operations,” Mohammed explained.
The FRSC Chief called on drivers to embrace a culture of courtesy, civility, and consideration for other road users.
“Drivers must remember that as they have the right to use the roads, so do others. They should drive with the awareness that their families, friends, and loved ones are waiting for them at home,” he added.
Mohammed’s message underscores the importance of responsible driving during the festive period to ensure the safety of all road users.
