Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former Presidential candidate and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Ghali Na’Abba, former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, and former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
He described their deaths as a significant loss to Nigeria’s politics and democracy.
In a statement released by his media office in Abuja, Olawepo-Hashim praised the late Na’Abba and Akeredolu as political giants who had a profound impact on the country’s political landscape.

He lauded Na’Abba as a patriot, selfless politician, and true democrat who stood against dictatorship and championed the independence of the legislature.
Olawepo-Hashim emphasized Na’Abba’s principled nature, courage, and dedication to the nation, noting that his contributions to democracy and good governance are unforgettable.
Regarding Akeredolu, Olawepo-Hashim highlighted the former governor’s significant role in upholding the rule of law in Nigeria, both through his legal practice and as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), before his foray into partisan politics.
Expressing his personal connections with the deceased, Olawepo-Hashim reminisced about his interactions with Na’Abba, with whom he shared a political journey since the “class of 1999.”
He also revealed their collaboration during his 2019 presidential campaign, where Na’Abba and DR Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) co-chaired his campaign council.
In conclusion, Olawepo-Hashim extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of Na’Abba and Akeredolu, praying for them to find the strength to cope with the irreplaceable loss.
The passing of these two prominent figures has left a void in Nigeria’s political landscape, and their contributions to the nation will be remembered and cherished.
