The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has urged the other two arms of government, the judiciary and the legislature to shun all acrimony and give his administration a chance to succeed in its determination to reclaim the state take it to the next level of development.
Fayose made the appeal at the swearing –in of a new High Court Judge, Honorable Justice Bamidele Omotoso held at the Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground, Ado-Ekiti.
Noting that the swearing of the new high court judge was his first assignment in the judiciary, the governor reiterated the determination of his administration to strengthen and partner the judiciary and make the rule of law the base line of his government.
“Our mission is to strengthen the judiciary so that every Ekiti person, irrespective of status or clan will have equal access to justice. This is what would bring peace and desired development to Ekiti”, the governor emphasized.
Governor Fayose who charged judges to shun partisan politics and leave politics to politicians urged them to be independent in the discharge of their duties as a separate arm of government, sustain the sanctity of the judiciary and save the arm from ridicule.
He admonished judges to adjudicate with the fear of God whom he said they are going to give the account of their stewardships at the long run, adding that he would not interfere or ask for the favour of any of the judges either personally or by proxy but leave them to perform their legal roles unfettered.
The governor also charged the Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin and other members of the house to see themselves and act beyond party politics, adding that the development of Ekiti should be paramount to everybody and overshadow party politics and personal interests.
Governor Fayose who said he had no axe to grind with any group or individual who has been perceived as an opposition in one way or the other to what God had ordained him to be assured that he has forgiven all and will be working in that spirit of forgiveness for the peace and progress of Ekiti.
The key to a new Toyota prado jeep, which is the official vehicle for the new High Court Judge, Justice Bamidele Omotoso was later presented to the Ekiti Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola.
Other top government functionaries at the ceremony include the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. (Mrs.) Modupe Alade, the Special Adviser to the the Governor on Legal Matter, Barrister Ajayi Owoseeni and the Head of Service, Mr. Bunmi Famosaya.
