On Tuesday, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq presented two executive laws to the Kwara State House of Assembly for consideration and passage.
Both the Kwara State Education Trust Fund Amendment Bill 2023 and the Environmental Protection Agency Amendment Bill 2023 are up for review in this session of parliament.
During Tuesday’s plenary, Governor Abdulrazaq sent two different letters to Speaker Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu, which were read aloud.
According to the state’s chief executive, the Kwara State Education Trust Fund Amendment Bill is intended to streamline the trust fund’s board of trustees and its employees in order to cut costs and improve efficiency.
He mentioned that the Environmental Protection Agency Amendment Bill 2023 would change the main statute to make breaking the law more costly.
For violations of Section 34-50 of the principal law, the governor claims that the bill’s passage will result in a maximum fine of N50,000 or six months in prison for individuals and a fine of N100,000 for corporate bodies.
The governor, Abdulrazaq, requested that the House give the two bills their customary rapid attention and approval.
During Tuesday’s plenary, Alhaji Kareem Olayiwola Ahmed, the Deputy Clerk of the House, read the two bills for the first time.
After that, House Speaker Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu sent the legislation to the House Committee on Rules and Business to be scheduled for a second reading on the next day of the legislature.
