Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced his intention to personally visit President Bola Tinubu to report the severe hunger, starvation, and high prices of essential commodities affecting the city.
Governor Yusuf expressed his desire for the President to intervene and provide relief to the people of Kano.
“I’m going to personally report the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succor to the people,” Governor Yusuf stated during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.

Addressing economic challenges in the state, Governor Yusuf mentioned plans to streamline tax collection to support businesses.
“One of the measures we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano, so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly,” he said.
Expressing concern over the alarming rise in the cost of foodstuff and other daily needs, Governor Yusuf emphasized the urgent need to find lasting solutions to this issue.
“The purpose of this gathering is to fine-tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation because people are really suffering and we need to do something about this,” he added.
Governor Yusuf’s proactive approach demonstrates his commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing Kano, and his efforts to seek assistance from the federal government underscore the severity of the situation and the urgency for intervention.
