Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday signed six significant bills into law, emphasizing their importance for the state’s development.

The newly signed laws include:
1. Law to Repeal and Re-enact the Kogi State Local Government Service Commission Law 2014
2. Law to Repeal and Re-enact the Kogi State Scholarship Board Edict, 1998
3. Law to Establish the Kogi State Electricity Market and the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission
4. Law to Establish the Kogi State Anti-Corruption Agency
5. Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion and Market Development Agency Law
6. Kogi State Information Technology Development Agency Law
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Governor Ododo urged the people of Kogi State to embrace the new laws to drive the state’s progress.
He described the legislation as “people’s laws,” highlighting his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and governance with the fear of God.
“These laws combined together can be referred to as the people’s Acts.
All the laws have direct bearing on the lives of our people, and this is the reason we are here,” Ododo stated.
He underscored the critical role these laws will play in catalyzing the rapid social and economic development of Kogi State, as they address essential aspects of the citizens’ lives.
“Let it be known that under my administration, nobody is above the law.
This is in line with my promise to lead with the fear of God and to ensure that our resources work for the people of the state,” the governor assured.
Governor Ododo called on the people of Kogi State, especially those in positions of authority, to familiarize themselves with the provisions of the new laws and adhere to them diligently.
