Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced his administration’s alignment with the Federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector to enhance access to quality healthcare delivery in the state.
Otti made this known while receiving the Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Salma Ibrahim, and her team during their advocacy visit to Abia State.
He emphasized the shared objectives between Abia and the Federal Government, particularly in health, highlighting a mutual commitment to a common purpose despite political differences.

The governor acknowledged the Renewed Hope Agenda’s significance, stating that Abia State is already implementing aspects of the Federal government’s health agenda.
He cited achievements in the health sector, such as a robust budget, restoration of accreditation for the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, and addressing health workers’ salaries and maternal and child mortality rates.
Governor Otti expressed readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
In her remarks, Dr. Salma Ibrahim called for a partnership between Abia and the Federal Government to accelerate health sector transformation outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She commended Governor Otti for increasing the healthcare budget by 15 percent and assured support from the Federal government in achieving various health policies, particularly in reducing maternal and child mortality rates.
