Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has urged friends, family, and well-wishers to refrain from organizing birthday festivities, gifts, or advertisements to mark his upcoming 56th birthday on December 21st.
Instead, the Governor has requested that those wishing to celebrate him contribute cash or materials to benefit less privileged children in the state.
Governor Oyebanji specified that gifts and donations should be directed to the three Government Special Schools in the state’s senatorial districts: Government Special School for the Deaf in Ikoro-Ekiti, Government Special School for the Blind in Ikere-Ekiti, and Government Special School for the Mentally and Physically Challenged in Ido-Ekiti.

Additionally, contributions are welcomed at the State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Challenged in Ado-Ekiti.
In a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, it was advised that financial and material gifts be sent directly to the specified schools, emphasizing that such contributions would constitute a more meaningful and appreciated birthday celebration for the Governor.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his happiness at the positive impact of last year’s contributions to the special schools and encouraged his friends and well-wishers to continue the tradition.
He stressed the importance of reaching out to the less privileged in society, highlighting the joy such gestures brought to the students.
The Governor, known for his background as a former university lecturer turned politician, hopes to celebrate his 56th birthday by fostering smiles on the faces of students with disabilities through charitable acts.
