Twenty special advisers proposed by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State were authorized by the State Assembly.
On Wednesday, after hearing a request from the executive branch, the House unanimously approved the measure.
Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, the majority leader of the House, opened debate on the motion by noting that the Constitution’s section 196 gave the House such authority.
The House Majority Leader thinks that the Governor can do more for the citizens of the state by appointing special advisers.
Members representing Gujba, Karasuwa, and Geidam, Hon. Bulama Bukar, Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo, and Hon. Bukar Mustapha, respectively, remarked that the Governor’s appointment of the special advisers would allow for more capable hands to be provided in government administration.
House Speaker Chiroma Buba Mashio thanked his colleagues for their help and support as he presided over the meeting.
Alhaji Kalilu Bukar Geidam’s name has also been submitted to the House for consideration as a permanent member of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC).
The nominee’s name has been sent to the House’s special committee in charge of reviewing nominations.
