Against the backdrop of heightened political tensions in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has broken his silence, addressing the public in a video posted on his official X handle.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Rivers State, Governor Fubara pledged to persist in safeguarding the interests of the state’s residents.
He assured the public of his commitment to running an inclusive government that prioritizes justice and fairness for all.

The governor’s statement follows a series of resignations from his cabinet, occurring amidst a reported face-off with his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike. Additionally, 27 members of the state assembly defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response to the lawmakers’ defection, the Rivers State Government ordered the demolition of the Assembly Complex, citing the necessity to construct a suitable structure following an “arson attack” on October 29.
The political landscape in Rivers State remains tense as developments unfold.
