Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has adamantly refuted claims of a crisis in the state, asserting its safety and suitability for investments. His remarks came during the flag-off ceremony for a 20,000-unit housing project in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
“Fubara emphasized, “Rivers State is a haven for investment. What you hear on the radio or see on TV – ‘Rivers State is not safe; there is a crisis’ – is not the truth.
Rivers State is safe and secure for anyone to come and invest. Your investment is safe in our hands.”

Despite the governor’s assurance, political tensions have led to the resignation of at least seven commissioners from the Rivers State executive council.
The underlying cause of the discord stems from the intense rivalry between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, vying for control of the state’s political structure.
This rivalry further resulted in the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), underscoring the depth of the political turbulence in Rivers State.
