Governor Agbu Kefas has introduced a new policy requiring all tertiary institutions in Taraba State to hold annual convocation ceremonies.
This directive aims to promote timely graduation and reinforce academic standards across the state’s higher education system.
Announcing the policy at the combined convocation ceremony of the College of Education, Zing, over the weekend, Governor Kefas underscored the state’s commitment to advancing higher education and ensuring that institutions adhere to regular academic schedules.
He emphasized that this policy would foster consistency and celebrate academic achievements, providing graduates with timely recognition of their accomplishments.
Governor Kefas highlighted the role of education as a cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda.
He noted that this commitment to education led to the introduction of free and compulsory primary and secondary education across Taraba.
Emphasizing that the state’s true wealth lies in the intellectual and creative talents of its people, he expressed his vision for an inclusive, growth-centered community through quality education.
The governor commended the College of Education’s leadership for their dedication to educational excellence and for supporting his administration’s educational reforms.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to merit-based decision-making, aiming to prevent sabotage and uphold fairness.
Professor Ejika Sambo, Provost of the College of Education, Zing, announced that approximately 19,700 students graduated with NCEs.
He applauded the governor for his historic attendance at the ceremony and encouraged the graduates to make a positive impact on others, moving beyond personal achievements.
