Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has accused opposition members of spreading misinformation about his administration, alleging they are gathering in Abuja and other locations to deceive the people of Abia with fake news.
Speaking at the Government House in Umuahia on Monday during the swearing-in of the Chairman, Deputy Chairmen, and councilors of the 17 local government areas, Otti stated that opposition members have developed a strategy to circulate fake, and sometimes genuine, documents to create false narratives against his government.
While he did not name specific individuals, Otti dismissed the gatherings as ineffectual, asserting that previous attempts to undermine his administration had failed and would continue to do so.

“Let me address the so-called opposition who are gathering in Abuja and elsewhere with the sole intention of deceiving people and distracting this government,” Otti said.
“They have perfected a strategy to churn out fake and sometimes real documents for false narratives and propaganda.
But just like the Bible assures, because these gatherings are not of God, they will scatter. Do not take the people of Abia for granted.”
He continued, “You have tried this before and failed. What makes you think you will succeed this time, given the transformation that has taken place in Abia State in less than 18 months? A word is enough for the wise.”
Governor Otti concluded by reaffirming his commitment to moving Abia State forward, despite distractions from the opposition.
