On Wednesday, November 15, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, and Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate, will receive a ruling from the Lagos Court of Appeal regarding their appeal challenging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.
The court informed those involved in the appeal that the verdict would be announced at 3 p.m.
According to Infostride News, the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the LP candidate’s challenge to Sanwo-Olu’s 2023 gubernatorial election victory.
The election tribunal found no basis for Rhodes-Vivour’s petition and confirmed Sanwo-Olu as the lawfully elected governor of the state.
The Labour Party’s nominee had petitioned the tribunal to overturn Sanwo-Olu’s March 18 election victory on the basis of non-qualification and corrupt activities.
A violation of the Electoral Act of 2022 was also cited as an offense committed by the governor, he said.
