Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has unveiled a new security initiative, Operation Udo Ga Achi (Peace Shall Reign), to address rising cases of kidnappings, killings, car snatching, and other criminal activities in the state.
As part of the initiative, Soludo announced a whistleblower reward of up to ₦5 million for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest of kidnappers.
The governor also inaugurated the state’s new security agency, Agunechemba, comprising over 2,000 operatives drawn from various security agencies. To strengthen operations, Soludo distributed 200 vehicles to security agencies earlier in the day.

Speaking at the launch at the International Convention Center, Awka, Soludo stated:
“We are committed to making Anambra the safest state in the country. Kidnapping for ransom has become a lucrative enterprise, even more profitable than drugs and oil. But we are coming for them.”
The governor highlighted past security challenges, revealing that eight local government areas were once under the control of gunmen before his administration reclaimed them. He also condemned the criminal activities of groups falsely claiming ties to the Biafran struggle, singling out Simon Ekpa for allegedly orchestrating kidnappings for ransom.
Soludo expressed concern over the glorification of wealth obtained through criminal means and the rise of idolatry used to justify such acts. He vowed to combat these challenges with both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.
“We are deploying 200 vehicles, a tracking system, surveillance cameras, and over 2,000 Agunechemba operatives to secure our communities. We will rebuild the 28 divisional police stations destroyed by hoodlums,” he added.
The governor specifically warned criminal elements in communities like Lilu, Mbosi, and Isseke, declaring that the state would not hesitate to declare such areas war zones if necessary.
“Tell them we are coming. We are ready to fight, and they will have no choice but to give way permanently,” Soludo declared.
The governor called for public support, urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities, as his administration intensifies efforts to restore peace and order in Anambra State.
