At the inception of the Divine Mandate Administration, His Excellency Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE, made it clear that he was in governance to bring optimum structural and human development to Ebonyi State and Ebonyi people. This caveat coupled with the antecedents of His Excellency as a man who walks his talks made us at Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing to hit the ground running from day one in other to achieve the purpose of our Governor as it regarded to our ministry. So far, my ministry has been able to interpret the vision of our wonder-working Governor His Excellency Chief David Nweze Umahi in the following concrete and verifiable terms.
HOUSING
Dr. Sam Egwu Governor’s Lodge
The first achievement of the Ministry was the reconstruction and remodeling of the Ultra Modern Governor’s Lodge known as Dr. Sam Egwu Lodge. This job was handled through a joint ministerial committee under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Lands. Till date, this project still remain the most outstanding as its inauguration attracted the highest level of dignitaries to the State, The Secretary to the Government of the, Federation personally commissioned the project.
The New Secretariat
The Administration of Engr. David Nweze Umahi FNSE inherited an uncompleted and abandoned workers Secretariat at the Centenary City. A lot of State Government fund had been sunk into this project. A lot more was presumed as outstanding payment arising from certificates generated by the past administration. It took much persuasion and conviction through joint measurement to get the Contractor Mallum Limited back to site.
Today we can authoritatively reveal that out of the eleven abandoned blocks the Contractors have been able to complete two blocks and they are still on site.
Governor’s Lodge Asokoro
Within the period under review, and arising from the directive of our wonder working Governor Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing was able to purchase a parcel of Land at a prime area of Asokoro at an unbelievable, very considerable price. Today a Consultant is already developing the structural drawings that will enable the Ministry commence work on the new Ebonyi State Liaison Office. It is hoped that if this is achieved Ebonyi State will be proud to have such as an edifice in such a zone in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Great thanks to our wonderful working Governor.
Waste To Wealth Plant
Upon the arrival of the waste recycling equipment and in compliance with the directive of our Governor the Ministry kick-started the construction of the largest waste to wealth recycling plant at Edem Village in Umuoghara, Ezza North Local Government Area. The recycling plant occupies almost a total of one hectare there by making it the largest recycling plant in the country. It is expected that over 3000 youths both skilled and unskilled will be gainfully employed in the factory.
LAND
Federal Low Coat Land
The Ministry had within the period in review taken notice of 30 – 50 hectares of land at Ezza North, Ohaukwu, Ohaozara and Ebonyi Local Government Areas donated by the respective Local Government Areas for acquisition and handover to the Federal Government.
Stadium Land
Uda Odeji is a parcel of land situated at Nnorom Street. It measures approximately 25.01 hectares of land Successive governments from the administration of Commander Walter Feghabor have tried to acquire the land for use by government all to no avail. In January 2016 following the directive of His Excellency our Governor the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing went into action and we are happy to announce that by the middle of March the Community willingly handed over the said land and government have decided to build an Ultra Modern Stadium on the parcel of land.
De-Zoning Of Ebonyi Hotel Afikpo
Ebonyi State Hotel Afikpo is situated on about 56 hectares of land. Surprisingly only about 5 hectares of the portion is utilized for structures that constitute the hotel block. It is the thinking of the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing that this large expanse of land taken by the government then is grossly under- utilized hence we requested His Excellency our Governor to approve the de-zoning and parcellation for possible allocation to individuals to develop as housing estate. This His Excellency has approved.
Allocation Of Land For NNPC
In compliance with the request of the Federal Government and in obedience to the directive of the Governor, the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing has acquired 3 hectares of land in Afikpo North, Ezza South and Izzi Local Government Areas for the Construction of three NNPC Mega Stations to serve the three Zones of the State.
Happy Land Afikpo
In a bid by this administration to make Ebonyi State a tourism destination the government through the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing has commenced action on the construction of a World Class Tourist Village to be situated at Afikpo North Local Government Area. An Introductory meeting by the Hon. Commissioner for Land and the Community had already been convened on February and the 3D-drawing showcasing most of the facilities that will be there has been perfected.
Ezzamgbo Industrial Park
It is the desire of our Governor to place Ebonyi State on the map of the global village. This can be achieved by making Ebonyi State the Industrial hub of the South East. The Ministry is already working with Bridgeway Limited to develop a workable plan of actualizing this dream. Our Governor has been very supportive in this direction.
Hon. Sunday Inyima
Commissioner for Lands, Survey & Housing
