Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has successfully reunited seven children from Bauchi State with their parents, following the bust of an inter-state child abduction and trafficking syndicate by the Kano State Police Command.
The children were handed over to their families on Friday in a heartfelt ceremony.
The Police in Kano had been conducting a thorough investigation into reports of missing children, which led to the arrest of nine suspects involved in the syndicate.

The syndicate, known for its involvement in inter-state trafficking, abduction, purchase, and sale of minors, operated across seven states, including Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo.
Mr. Husseini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, confirmed the dismantling of the syndicate, which had been active for over a decade.
Governor Yusuf commended the diligent efforts of the Kano State Police Command, expressing his gratitude for their dedication.
However, Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the discovery of seven children abducted from Bauchi State and trafficked to Anambra and Lagos.
He urged parents to remain vigilant in ensuring the safety of their children, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in protecting minors from such nefarious activities.
The Kano State governor also called on his Bauchi State counterpart to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects.
In response, Malam Abdulmutallif Sa’ad, speaking on behalf of the parents, expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf and the Kano police command for their efforts and pledged to be more vigilant in the future.
Mrs. Sha’awanatu Yusuf, the Director of Public Prosecution at the Bauchi State Ministry of Justice, emphasized the unity between Kano and Bauchi States for the greater good.
She assured that the Bauchi State government would pursue legal action to ensure that the suspects faced justice.
As a gesture of support, Governor Yusuf donated N500,000 to each of the seven recovered children, underscoring the government’s commitment to their well-being and reintegration into their families.
