Group Endorses Ambode For Lagos Governorship

Fashola-AmbodeA group of Nigerian professionals, We Stand For Lagos, have endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode.

The group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Mr. Jide Ayobolu on Sunday, said Ambode’s public service experience in Lagos makes him the best candidate to govern the state.

According to the group, good governance had been crucial to making Lagos a mega city since 1999, adding that the APC-led government had “unleashed the creative and productive potential of the people”.

It argued that there was no need to vote for another party because the APC had fixed many pressing challenges in the state.

The statement partly read, “Lagos is not for learners and beginners. Lagos is a serious business that shouldn’t be left in the hands of starters. It is too sophisticated to be managed by greenhorns. We need continuity.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu started the service delivery infrastructure and Governor Babatunde Fashola continued while Ambode should consolidate them.

“Although the state witnessed reversals during the military era, the successive democratic governments have initiaited and pursued knowledge-based approaches to critical reforms in the polity. These have opened up new markets, expanded traditional ones and intensified job-based growth.

“With an insight into the oncoming proposition of Ambode for the introduction of a 24/7 economy in Lagos, alongside the set-up of a Lagos Employment Trust Fund and the creation of a Corporate Social Responsibility Trust Fund by the private sector, it is reassuring that Lagos State is primed to continue to be a centre of greater economic prospects for the people”.
