Guinea, Mali Both Pray For ‘Lady Luck’

Guinea and Mali will have to wait for the drawing of lots to take place to find out who will qualify for quarterfinals.
    .
CAF Article 74 has come into play to be the tiebreaker as the teams are level in every category.
    .
The rule is also used by the world governing football body Fifa.
    .
It is not everyone’s preferred manner and most fans have actually called for penalty shootout, which is more thrilling and entertaining than a draw that basically amounts to a lottery.
    .
This is what the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stated after the match.
    .
“In pursuant to Article 74 of the regulations of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, a random draw will be conducted to determine the second-placed team in Group B, between Mali and Guinea.”
    .
“The draw will take place during the meeting of the Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday, 29 January 2015 at 16H00 local time at the Hilton Malabo.”
    .
“The names of the two teams will be presented before being placed into two balls. An official from the audience will be invited to take pick up a ball which will be the team that has qualified for the quarterfinals.”
    .
So it all boils down to divine intervention to decide who progresses to face Ghana in the quarters.
