Two soldiers from the 312 Battalion, Kalapanzi Barracks, were attacked by armed assailants at Babar Saura in Kaduna State, resulting in the death of one and injuries to the other.
The incident was disclosed by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his X handle.
Citing intelligence sources, Makama revealed that three attackers armed with sophisticated weapons ambushed the soldiers, killing Corporal James (surname unknown) and injuring Private Ibrahim Bazalla.

The assailants reportedly carted away two AK-47 rifles before fleeing the scene.
According to the report, the soldiers were immediately rushed to the 44 Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, where Corporal James was confirmed dead, while Private Bazalla is currently receiving treatment.
Following a coordinated response by the military, police, and local vigilantes, the attackers were tracked to Degel 2 in Kaduna, where they abandoned a silver Toyota Corolla.
Makama further revealed that during their escape, the assailants hijacked a white Toyota Venza from a civilian, identified as Abdullahi Mohammed of Badarawa, Kaduna.
“Efforts to arrest the suspects and recover the stolen vehicle are ongoing,” he added.
