The Minister of State for Health, Osagie Ehanire has called on health professionals to focus on patients’ care, safety and efficiency as a way of enhancing health service delivery in the country. He stated this recently in Edo state, while on official visit to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH).
In his speech at the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association, Edo Central Zone held at the Hospital, Osagie Enahire emphasized the need for health officers to key seriously into the change policy of the present administration in the country. He maintained that the ‘change’ is a change of direction, change for transformation and change for the better.
Enahire noted that due to the dwindling price of oil in the international market, government resources are limited and in view of this, new initiatives must be brought to bear to complement government’s effort. On strike actions, the Minister said that the Federal Government would engage the ‘NMA’ and other unions in the sector, in order to avert crises. This strategy, he opined will ensure industrial harmony in the health sector.
He commended the management, staff and various unions in the hospital for their co-operation with the management of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital led by Okogbenin (Dr).
