A member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly from Chikun Local Government Area, Ayuba Ishaku Chasazah, has hailed Governor Nasir El-Rufai for allowing the will of the electorate to prevail in the just conducted local government elections in the state.
He thanked El-Rufai for providing enough security personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election in the rural areas.
Chawazah expressed his feelings in Kujama after the PDP candidate in Chikun, Engineer Salasi Nuhu Musa, was declared the winner by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM).
According to him, “This is truly what the Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai said, that the election will be free and fair. He instructed that whoever wins the election should be given his mandate.”
He added, “I want to commend his Excellency for doing the first of its kind in Nigeria by the introduction of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). I want all others to emulate him to ensure the will of the people prevailed.”
According to him, with what was observed during the conduct of the polls and announcement of results, Nigeria is making progress democratically.
“What we have seen in the conduct of the local government election in Kaduna state is a sign we are growing democratically,” he stressed.
The House member described the election which was conducted on Saturday, September 25 as peaceful, free and fair, expressing confidence that the same would be done in the 2023 general elections in the country.
“Chikun has always been PDP there has always been overwhelming support of PDP in Chikun, adding that it is a welcoming development that the People’s Democratic Party would take over the affairs of the local government,” Chawazah said.
He said, “This victory is an indicator of what should be expected in 2023.”
The lawmaker urged all those that won at the polls to hit the ground running by providing dividends of democracy to the electorate in order to give the hope that democracy is the best system of government in the country.
