The member representing Abia South Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has revealed that he never wanted to return to the Senate, but for President Goodluck Jonathan, who prevailed on him to return to strengthen the legislature.
Abaribe, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Information, said he had made up his mind to run for the governor of Abia, as returning to the Senate would not give him the opportunity to serve the state, which he noted was a larger constituency.
Addressing PDP stakeholders from his senatorial district in his country home at Ohuru in Obingwa Local Government, the senator disclosed that he had bought the nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship election.
He said it was after buying the forms that the president’s directive came, which made him to rescind the decision to contest for the governorship of the state, adding that of the 54 PDP senators billed to return to the Senate, only 12, including himself, picked the tickets.
Abaribe said he obeyed Jonathan because he was a loyal party man.
