SINGAPORE–(Marketwired – Jan 13, 2015) – HungryGoWhere, Singapore’s best known online destination for all things food-related, is calling on foodies to cast their votes for their favourite food and beverage (F&B) establishments in its inaugural Eat-lections. Voting is open to everyone from now till 4 February.
Eat-lections — Singapore’s biggest people’s choice F&B awards will feature 26 awards across five categories — restaurants, hawkers, drinks, occasions and an overall best.
The nominees were shortlisted based on what was trending on HungryGoWhere and across the F&B industry last year. They include many Singapore favourites, ranging from local classics like chicken rice and roti prata to traditional French, Italian and Japanese. The list also covers F&B that are growing in popularity like Modern Singaporean and whisky. (Refer to Annex 1 for details)
Mr Matthew Whittingham, HungryGoWhere’s CEO, said: “It’s high time we give our millions of foodies here in Singapore the opportunity to vote for their favourites. HungryGoWhere Eat-lections is all about getting the people who live here, people we know who are deeply passionate about food, to crown their favourite food and drink spots across the island. I am very excited by this biggest ever food awards by the people.”
Let the voting begin!
To make it easy for foodies to vote, a HungryGoWhere truck will ply popular food haunts like Maxwell Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat and Club Street on Friday, 16 January. Foodies can submit their votes to the HungryGoWhere travelling ambassadors or via www.hungrygowhere.com/awards.
Foodies can vote across all categories and nominate their favourite establishments in Singapore even if it is not included in the shortlist. The top three nominees are shortlisted according to HungryGoWhere’s statistics of the top searched establishments and terms on HungryGoWhere. All nominees, including the top three listed, start out with zero votes.
Mrs Gwee Guek Hwa, Director-Owner of Outram Park Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha, said: “We are excited that these awards are nominated by the public, and will do our best to win our customers over. A lot of love and labour goes into making our bak kut teh, and we hope to keep our customers happy by upholding the great taste of traditional bak kut teh.”
Mr Gianluca Impemba, Managing Director of Etna Italian Restaurant, said: “Food and drink awards are important — it’s a reward for the good work that we have done, and especially important when winners are selected by the public. The Italian dining scene in Singapore is very competitive, and I believe our diners keep coming back for our authenticity.”
Participating voters stand a chance to win attractive prizes such as dining vouchers worth up to S$336 for two at leading establishments such as Brunch Beats at The Westin Singapore’s Seasonal Tastes, The Line at Shangri-La Hotel, as well as One-Ninety Wood-fired Steaks and Seafood at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.
