Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has apologized to Swansea after his team’s controversial victory against them in the FA Cup quarter-final at the Liberty Stadium.
City benefited from two contentious decisions as they fought back from 2-0 down to reach the semifinals of the FA Cup.
The Premier League champions got a pen 12 minutes from time when Cameron Carter-Vickers appeared to touch the ball as he slid in on Raheem Sterling.
Sergio Aguero then scored an offside goal but the Video Assistant Referee could not be used because the game was not being played on an EPL pitch.
Pep said, “You have to ask the authorities why VAR is not here,”
“All around it is there, but here it is not. If it’s not a penalty and it’s also offside, I am sorry. I don’t like to win games when decisions are wrong. It’s not easy.”
A spokesman for Swansea also said, “We are in the dark ourselves over the non-use of VAR here and that it would only be used in Premier League stadiums,” the spokesman told Press Association Sport.
“That seems a bit strange considering we were there for seven years and all the technology is placed here to accommodate it.”
