Retired Belgium forward, Eden Hazard has come out to label Real Madrid a big-headed club. He recently explained why he didn’t fit in at the Spanish giants, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if it was his dream to play for a club as special as Real Madrid, it is such a big-headed club that did not play the kind of football he is most comfortable in.

Hazard added that he also had the worst injuries at the worst times, and he just could not fit in.
His words, “Now it’s easy to say. Since I was little I was a fan of [Zinedine] Zidane. The Bernabeu, the white shirt… it has a charm that the others don’t have. Madrid is special. Beyond that, I don’t think I fit in. It’s not like me.
It’s a bit of a big-headed club, and I’m not like that. I didn’t even like the way we played if you compare it with other clubs. But it was my dream. I couldn’t finish my career without going there. This shows that Madrid is bigger than anything else. It is difficult to play there. Maybe I needed to train more.
I also had the worst injuries at the worst times. The operation… I came back, it hurt, I forced myself. In the second season [Carlo] Ancelotti arrived. I had good preparation, I played well. But my body, the pain, the injuries…”
WOW.
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, commonly referred to as Real Madrid, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid. The club competes in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football.
Real Madrid has maintained the white shirt for its home kit throughout the history of the club. There was, however, one season that the shirt and shorts were not both white. It was an initiative undertaken by Juan Padrós in honor of an English team Corinthian F.C., which he had met on one of his trips, one of the most famous teams at the time known for its elegance and sportsmanship.
It was under Florentino Pérez’s first presidency (2000–2006) that Real Madrid started its ambition of becoming the world’s richest professional football club. The club ceded part of its training grounds to the city of Madrid in 2001, and sold the rest to four corporations: Repsol YPF, Mutua Automovilística de Madrid, Sacyr Vallehermoso and OHL.
Hala Madrid is a magazine published quarterly for the Real Madrid club members and the Madridistas Fan Club card holders. The phrase Hala Madrid, meaning “Forward Madrid” or “Go Madrid”, is also the title of the club’s official anthem, which is often sung by the Madridistas (the club’s fans).
