Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has come out to say that he has held private meetings with the PGMOL to discuss refereeing improvement after his recent criticisms of officials. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if he cannot reveal the details of their private meeting, he made sure he discussed how officiating can be improved in the league with the officials.
Arteta added that he simply defended his opinion on VAR and its use, and more managers have the duty to do that as well.
His words, “Those are private meetings that I cant explain sorry.
It was done. I defended my opinion. I’m fully supportive of how we have to improve the game. We have the duty to do that. It’s good to discuss things in an open way.
We want to do the game better. It’s about how we can improve on the touchline to make life easier from the players’ side, [the officials’] side, technology-wise and the clubs. It’s all about us. We’re all in this together, it’s not about separate people trying to do their bits. That’s not going to work, we have to do it together.”

After the season, Arteta’s title was changed from head coach to manager.
