The Osun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party has accused the governing All Progressives Congress in the state of lacking sound economic ideas required to move the state out of its present financial crisis.
The PDP chairman in Osun State, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, said this in a statement in Osogbo on Monday.
The opposition party was reacting to the allegation leveled against its candidate in the 2014 governorship election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who the APC accused of being behind the planned summit being organised by a group known as the Osun Stakeholders.
Some of the conveners of the planned summit, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, and a former Attorney General of Osun State, Mr. Niyi Owolade had announced on Friday that the summit would hold next Thursday.
The Osun APC spokesperson, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, had accused Omisore of planning to use the summit to cause mayhem with a view of destabilising the state.
Responding to the allegation, Olaoluwa said it was sad that the APC had no idea of solving the problems confronting the state and was wrongly accusing the PDP, which knew nothing about the summit.
The PDP statement read, “It is unfortunate that the APC can be raising a false alarm and accusing the PDP wrongly after it demonstrated that it is bereft of ideas on how to lead Osun State out of the economic woes it brought the state to.
“Those in the APC should bury their heads in shame because their government has grounded all sectors in Osun State. The state has never had it so bad since its creation.
“We in the PDP urge the organisers of the summit to come out with solutions that can take the state out of its present crippling state”.
