Atiku Abubakar has revealed that he was responsible for the reports that stopped ex-Anambra State Governor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, from clinching PDP ticket for re-election in 2003.
Mbadinuju was elected governor of Anambra State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003, having been sworn in on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
While his tenure was popular for several political battles that resulted in a failure of effective government, Atiku said that he toured some parts of the states and that he was shocked to discover that schools in Anambra were closed for two years because of Mbadinuju administration’s neglect.
His words, “When I returned from the states’ tour, I told President Obasanjo that Mbadinuju must not be allowed to seek reelection.”
