Veteran Nollywood actor, Ayebo Yemi Solomon, a.k.a Yemi My Lover, has come out to slam popular rapper, Olamide, for not reaching out to him despite being inspired by his past work. Recall that Olamide got the inspiration for his hit track “Yemi Lover” from Yemi’s classic Nollywood movie, “Yemi My Lover.”
According to him, even though he appreciated the rapper’s nod to his creative work, he was not happy with Olamide for failing to reach out to him in person.
Yemi added that he was very happy when the singer dropped the song, but while he waited for his phone call when the music video dropped, it never came.
His words, “Olamide didn’t call me when he released the song. I was happy, but not happy. When the video dropped, I was expecting a call, at least a feature. I tried to see him, but it didn’t work.”
On piracy, “I didn’t make money from Yemi My Lover. Pirates waged war against me. They were printing the movie jackets anyhow. I invested N50,000 to N60,000, but I didn’t earn much back.
90 per cent of the money went to pirates. They are a curse to me. I ran into debt and even sold my land in Ajah to survive.”
WOW.
