Immediate past Governor of Adamawa State, Bala James Ngilari has refuted allegations he was declared wanted by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking on Sunday night when he returned to Yola from Dubai where he underwent medical check-up, Ngilari said that the allegation was just a cheap blackmail perpetrated by persons who are out to destroy his reputation.
“As far I am concerned, I did not receive any invitation from EFCC as alleged, in fact I don’t have any case before the commission,” Ngilari declared.
The former governor whose absence at the inauguration of the new governor, Senator Muhammad Jibrilla Bindow was attributed to his alleged trouble with EFCC made clarifications on his whereabouts. He noted that he travelled abroad for medical check-up.
“Mr. Boni Haruna ,the then governor of Adamawa state, was absent during our inauguration in 2007 and it was his deputy, Bello Tukur that handed over to Governor Murtala Nyako while I was his deputy.
“So, contrary to what is being speculated, I did not run away, I went for medical check-up and I delegated my deputy to do the handing over on my behalf while I was away,” he said.
