Lionel Messi’s Barcelona teammate Neymar has opened up about the Argentine’s decision to retire from international football.
Messi announced the end of this Argentina career following the defeat to Chile in the Copa America final in June.
And although Brazil star Neymar understands the decision, he feels that Messi’s absence is a loss to the international game.
“I respect his decisions, but football without Messi isn’t football, it’s hard to imagine it without him,” Neymar said in Marca.
“If you like football at all, then you can’t help but admire Messi and everything he’s achieved for Argentina and Barcelona.”
Last week, it was confirmed Messi and his father, Jorge Horacio Messi, are set to appeal to the Spanish supreme court after being found guilty of three counts of tax fraud at a court in Barcelona.
