Napoli striker, Romelu Lukaku has come out to admit that he cried every day after Belgium’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he really wanted to be there for his country because the coach and the team needed him, but it just wasn’t meant to be for the Belgian national team in 2022.
Lukaku added that he cried every day for weeks after their exit, and Henry even had to call him thrice a day at some point.
His words, “I wanted to be there for my country because the coach and the team needed me. It was the first time in 29 years that football touched me. I never thought about depression, but I cried every day for weeks. Even on holiday. Thierry Henry called me three times a day. My mother and my children were in Milan, but I had no energy. I needed to be alone for a while.”
WOW.
