President Muhammadu Buhari has come out to say that he and Nigeria are solidly behind the President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina as he strives to get re-elected.
Buhari recently revealed this as he hosted Dr. Adesina who paid him a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Buhari, he did his best to ensure Adesina was elected for the first term by writing to all African leaders to recommend him for the position despite the fact that he was a PDP minister.
He added that he would remain consistent with the president of African Development Bank and would never withhold his support.
His words, “In 2015, when you were to be elected for the first term, I wrote to all African leaders, recommending you for the position.
“I didn’t say because you were a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Minister, and I belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC), so I would withhold my support. I’ll remain consistent with you, because no one has faulted the step I took on behalf of Nigeria.”
