Lionel Messi has said even his son does not understand why he gets criticized for whatever he does with Argentina.
Messi got back to the Argentina squad days back for their loss against Venezuela. It was his first appearance since their World Cup exit at the hands of France. But he left the squad for Tuesday’s game in Morocco because of a groin injury that has been disturbing him since December.
After a four days break, he rejoined Barcelona’s training which made fans question his desire to play for Argentina as he missed the friendly match against Morocco.
Messi said to Radio 94.7, “I’m used to what they say about me, they are always making things up about me,”
“Nothing surprises me.
“There are a lot of lies being told and it makes me angry because people believe what they say. Anybody can say anything, people buy into it and then I’m the bad guy.
“The truth is I went into the international break with a strain I’ve had since before the winter break. It’s a complicated groin issue. I feel better, but I have to look after myself.”
“I’d love to win something with Argentina,”
“I’m going to play in all the important competitions.
“A lot of people were saying that I shouldn’t come back [after the World Cup] and my 6-year-old son [Thiago] even asked me why they crucify me in Argentina.”
