The Arewa Community in Lagos State, an umbrella body of Hausas living in Lagos, recently declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Chairman, Arewa Community in Lagos State, Alhaji Muhammadu Dandamayabo said it was expected for the Hausa community to support Sanwo-Olu, since he was Bola Tinubu’s choice.
His words, “We, Arewa Community in Lagos State, it is not the first time, not the second time (that we have been supporting the APC). In 2011, we supported (Babatunde) Fashola; in 2015, we supported (Akinwunmi) Ambode and now, it is Sanwo-Olu.
“It is what Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) says that we will do. We, members of the Arewa Community in Lagos State, are Asiwaju’s followers. Anywhere Asiwaju is, that is where we are. We have been following him since the days of the AD).”
“Sai Baba is our father. We don’t reckon with Atiku (Abubakar). I am a Fulani, Buhari is a Fulani and Atiku is a Fulani as well; but we don’t reckon with Atiku. We are for Buhari. We will continue to pray for Asiwaju; he is a good national leader.”
Also speaking on behalf of the Almagated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria, Shehu Usman, the Financial Secretary, Mile 12 International Market, said, “We are traders, but we are also politicians. This endorsement rally is very important because the man, Sanwo-Olu, deserves to be the next governor of Lagos State.”
