The Ilorin division of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), headed by its Chairman, Barrister Kamaldeen Gambari, paid a visit to the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, August 7, 2023. During the visit, the NBA pledged its unwavering support to the Commission’s relentless efforts in combating corruption.
Gambari remarked, “The EFCC and the NBA are collaborative allies in the ongoing fight against corruption,” emphasising the shared commitment to this cause. He further highlighted the gratification of having the Zonal Commander as a fellow member of the legal profession.
The primary intention behind the visit was to fortify the existing connection between the EFCC and the Ilorin NBA and to collectively contribute to the campaign against corruption.

“Our objective here is to engage with the Zonal Commander, particularly due to the fact that he is one of our legal fraternity,” Gambari elucidated.
In response, Michael Nzekwe, the Commander of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC, expressed his satisfaction with the visit and appealed for the legal community’s support in advancing the Commission’s commendable efforts. Nzekwe underlined the Commission’s unequivocal stance against corruption and urged legal practitioners to judiciously verify claims made by their clients concerning the EFCC to avoid being misled.
He asserted, “Our focus isn’t directed towards any individual or group, and we shall not tolerate any instance of professional misconduct from our personnel.”
By extending their solidarity and collaborative spirit, the Ilorin NBA and the EFCC collectively demonstrate their commitment to upholding the integrity and the rule of law in the fight against corruption.
