The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has pledged improved logistics and result management systems ahead of the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
Prof. Yakubu made the commitment on Monday during an assessment tour of the INEC office in Akure.
He noted that the commission has received positive feedback from its state office, but undertook the visit to ensure a thorough readiness check for the upcoming election.
“We have learnt a lot of lessons, not only from the last election but also from previous ones,” Yakubu stated.
“There are two main challenges: logistics to ensure polling units open promptly on election day, and efficient result management.
My assurance to voters in Ondo State is that they will see significant improvements in these areas.”
The INEC chairman emphasized that he was in the state to engage with key stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, media, security agencies, and INEC staff members, to gauge their preparedness for the election.
