Otunba Gbenga Daniel has said his party, PDP is suspicious that there is foul play in the postponement of the general elections.
He believes the Independent National Electoral Commission decided to go ahead with it to please certain people.
His words, “This was an election that INEC had three years to plan for and even a few days ago, we had assurances that everything was set to go. I am really in shock. I don’t know their reason. The INEC chairman spoke of logistics, but I don’t seem to understand it.
“The international observers, some of them have been here for the last two weeks, what do you want them to do? It is really not a good day for politics in Nigeria and in Africa.
“Definitely, there is no smoke without fire. Yes, INEC is supposed to be independent, but they have appointed officers and there are people who confirm the appointment. Definitely, this appears to be the voice of Jacob, but the hand of Esau.
“Nigerians will not give room for foul play. But we should place them on notice that this is not about an election between individuals. It is between INEC and Nigerians. INEC must be loyal to Nigerians.
“It may not be easy for the INEC chairman to resign, except we want to create a bigger problem. If the election is next week and you ask him to resign, there will be problems. We should ask him to conduct the elections first before we talk about sanctions.”
