The European Centre for Electoral Support on Monday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to abide by the laws establishing the commission.
It also begged the commission to not accept unnecessary interference from the government in power or any other forces in order to deliver free, fair and credible elections.
The organisation’s Country Project Coordinator, Rudolf Elbling, dished out this advice during a training session in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Elbling, who was represented by Dr Isiaku Yahaya, said that the entire world was watching as the nation got ready for the general elections.
He said the ECES, in conjunction with other organisations, would make sure that the country electoral body discharges its duties within the confines of its mandate without undue interference.
“It is therefore a matter of consolation that this workshop has been put together for the twin objectives of building the capacity of INEC to effectively monitor the finances of political parties ahead of 2019 elections,” he said.
