The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kebbi State has appealed to residents to suspend planned protests over insecurity, warning that demonstrations could disrupt ongoing efforts to address the security challenges in the state.
The agency’s State Director, Nasiru Muhammed Karofi, made the appeal in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

Karofi said protests at the current time could distract security agencies from their operations and potentially worsen the situation in affected communities.
He also cautioned residents against spreading unverified information, particularly reports capable of creating panic or heightening tension.
According to him, the circulation of false or unconfirmed information could benefit armed groups responsible for attacks that have claimed the lives of residents and security personnel.
The NOA director urged residents to support security operatives and encourage them in the discharge of their duties, while expressing condolences to families who had lost loved ones to insecurity.
He also commended Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for his efforts to improve security and address the plight of displaced persons, including initiatives aimed at facilitating their safe return to their communities.
Karofi called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, community heads and youth organisations to promote peace, vigilance and cooperation across the state.
He maintained that collective support for security agencies and responsible communication would help strengthen efforts to restore stability in affected areas.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in Kebbi State and public frustration over attacks on communities. The agency urged residents to remain calm while authorities continue efforts to tackle the situation.
