Insecurity: Tinubu to open National Security Conference in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is expected to declare open a National Security Conference in Abuja as stakeholders deliberate on the worsening security challenges confronting Nigeria.

The conference, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, will bring together religious leaders, security experts and other stakeholders to discuss issues surrounding insecurity and national unity.

Garbadeen Mohammad, spokesperson for Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) and the World Muslim League, disclosed the planned event in a statement.

The conference is expected to focus on major security concerns, including banditry, kidnapping and other threats to lives and property across the country.

Discussions will also examine ways of strengthening cooperation among governments, communities, religious organisations and other stakeholders in tackling insecurity.

The gathering is coming amid renewed calls for stronger and more coordinated measures to address persistent security challenges, particularly in northern Nigeria.

Participants are expected to exchange ideas on practical approaches to improving security while promoting religious tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence.

The conference is also expected to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to assess existing security measures and explore additional strategies for addressing the country’s security challenges.
