The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, expressed pride in the Nigeria Police Force’s association with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during a courtesy visit by the EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The IGP described the EFCC as a commendable offspring of the Police Force and pledged continued support for the commission.
He emphasized the Police’s commitment to aiding the EFCC in its endeavors, stating, “We are proud to have the EFCC as our child. We will continue to support you.”

In his remarks, Olukoyede commended the Police for nurturing the EFCC from its inception and expressed satisfaction with the existing collaboration between the two agencies.
He highlighted the specialized nature of the EFCC’s work and called for further support, cooperation, and collaboration from the Police.
Olukoyede also raised the issue of overlapping operations between the Police and the EFCC, suggesting the need for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to streamline their efforts and prevent duplicative investigations.
He emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary duplication of efforts, stating,
“There is no need to dissipate energy investigating similar cases. We can come up with an MoU to properly address such issues.”
