A public affairs commentator by the name of Ahmed Bakare bemoaned the fact that the northern region of the country is no longer secure since bandits were able to penetrate a town and assassinate police officers, one of whom was a Divisional Police Officer in the state of Zamfara.
These statements were stated by Bakare on Friday during an interview he gave to the media in Gusau.
He bemoaned that the overall security situation in the state has become worrying, puzzling, and embarrassing, and he asked for a well-coordinated security network to confront the worsening situation.

He also called for the implementation of new security measures.
He pointed out that the current administration, which is led by Governor Dauda Lawal, is unable to execute any developmental initiatives in the state without peace, and he also pointed out that investors are swiftly departing the state owing to concerns about its level of security.
“The time has arrived where we can no longer run away from the truth; it has become inescapable. Let us tell the truth to ourselves: governments at all levels are aware of what is happening in Zamfara State, but they appear apathetic due to the profits they obtain from these barbaric arrangements,” he bemoaned. “Let us speak the truth to ourselves.”
Bakare emphasised that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot claim to have improved the northern half of the country without addressing the urgent security concerns that are currently facing the region.
“I would like to offer some advice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by suggesting that he address the Almajiri education issue in the same way that former President Goodluck Jonathan did, which helped bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam during his tenure.”
Bakare went on to say that the level of insecurity in the Northern portion of the country is higher than in any other part of the country, and that potential investors are hesitant to invest in the region as a result of the continued banditry.
“On a daily basis, we are made aware of reports of homicides, kidnappings, and various other acts of violence. Why is it that in a free country we are forced to put up with this? He posed the query.
